Ever wished you could write a book? Have the idea for a great thriller, romance or a science fiction wonderland in the back of your mind? Well NOW is the time to yank that out and throw it onto paper. (Pardon the slightly disgusting image, there.) November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) and it’s a fun, easy way to just get that first novel out of the way. After all, like languages, the second one is even easier.

Here’s how it works: sign up on the NaNoWriMo site. Try to get your all your obviously-brilliant friends (after all they’re friends with you) to do it too.Write about 1,666 words a day, or 50,000 words by midnight November 30. This isn’t actually that bad, really. Reward yourself with fun treats to keep yourself motivated.

Do not edit. Do not judge. Just get words on the page.

Come to the library for our write-in on Thursday, November 15 from 4 to 7 pm. This is the halfway point. We’ll have tasty treats, coffee and hopefully other writers for you to hang out with.

Keep writing.

On Thursday, December 6 at 6:30 pm. we’ll have a celebration of your writing prowess. Whether you finished your novel or not, we think you are awesome. AND the library is willing to e-publish any novels and circulate them! (If you want).

Congratulations, Mr. or Ms. Writer.
